The festival is free, and in addition to the concerts, there will be food and activities appropriate for all ages.

Vårt Nabolag is a series of festivals at asylum reception centers that Oslo World has organized since 2009. The aim is to facilitate participation and new acquaintances based on one of the simplest and most rewarding things life has to offer: Watching a good concert together.

JON RANES

Jon Ranes made his artist debut in 2017 with the rap group Undergrunn. Since then, they have become Norway's biggest band, with a long string of hits, concerts at Norway's biggest festivals and Oslo Spektrum, in addition to several awards, which this year was crowned with the Norway’s most prestigious award, Årets Spellemann for 2023 (Artist of the year). In parallel with Undergrunn, Ranes has embarked on a celebrated solo career, and he is also a promising actor who, among other things, can be seen in Ut og stjæle hester, Til ungdommen and Pørni.

As a solo artist, Jon Ranes draws inspiration from artists such as Stein Torleif Bjella and Håkan Hellström. The vision is to "create a universe of organic music with real instruments". This concert will be a meeting with one of Norway’s most versatile and ambitious artists right now. We can’t wait!

INGRID OLAVA

Ever since her critically acclaimed debut with Juliet's Wishes in 2008, Ingrid Olava has been one of the foremost Norwegian singer-songwriters. With her characteristic voice, tender stage presence and beautiful piano playing, she has delivered a large number of concerts all over the country. Her body of work has resulted in a multitude of awards and nominations throughout a career spanning 15 years.

In addition to her own song catalog, with audience favorites such as "Only Just Begun", "Back to love", "Warrior Song" and "Mens Jeg Sover", Olava has always embraced and interpreted other artists. A concert with Ingrid Olava has developed into an eclectic mix of her own and other people's material.

Her latest album, Blomster & Post, is about life: about anxiety, both about the apocalypse and about meeting the ex on the street. She sings about becoming a mother, about death, about wanting to be Joan of Arc, but ending up as an amusement park. About the way home and about the light. Earlier this year, the album received a Norwegian Grammy, further confirmation that Ingrid Olava is at her artistic peak at the moment.

HARPREET BANSAL

Harpreet Bansal has established herself in recent years as one of Norway’s most fascinating and versatile musicians. Her approach to the deep-rooted Indian raga tradition draws inspiration from jazz, folk music and contemporary classical music. She is one of Norway’s most sought-after performers, regularly appearing at prestigious festivals at home and abroad. She has been a featured artist on Karpe’s latest album and tour, and she has performed her music as soloist with such distinguished ensembles as The Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and The Norwegian Radio Orchestra.

Harpreet has released three albums on the Jazzland Recordings label with her group Harpreet Bansal Band, for which she has garnered a Norwegian Grammy Nomination (2019) and the prestigious NOPA Awards (2021). Her latest album Parvat, where she appears with The Norwegian Radio Orchestra, was nominated in six categories for the OPUS Klassik awards in 2022.

Harpreet plays a violin made by Giovanni Batista Rogeri in 1690, generously provided by the Dextra Musica Foundation.

CHEB HOCINE

It seems fair to say that no musician has done more for the spread of Raï music in Norway than the singer Cheb Hocine. The great musician has thrilled audiences all over Scandinavia, UK and France for decades. Here at home, he is perhaps most known for his collaboration with the cult jazz quartet The Source at their legendary christmas shows, where his versions of well known Norwegian christmas tunes has created many converts. Hocine comes from the Algerian port city Oran, where Raï was created when arab folk music was exposed to pop music. Raï has been dubbed the “arab blues”, and is a central part of daily life to this day. To Oslo World, Cheb brings his trio consisting of himself on vocal and percussion, Abdelali Bouabdillah on keyboards and Karim Musiko on violin and vocals.
