Altin Gün - Few tickets left! (Netherlands/Turkey)

Groovy and seductive anatolian psych

Ever since they broke through with their album On in 2018, the Amsterdam based band Altın Gün have been rapidly expanding both their fan base and their stylistic range. The band uses the diverse traditions of Anatolian and Turkish folk music and psych as a vantage point into strange, new places - deep funk, synthpop, cosmic reggae and disco. During the pandemic, they experimented with electronic music on the home-recorded albums Âlem and Yol, which were released in 2021. They visited Oslo World that autumn for two infectiously groovy, sold out shows at Cosmopolite. 2023 marked another turning point for them. The singer Merve Daşdemir quit the band, and they continued as a five piece, returning to the more rock influenced sound that had characterized their first two albums. This spring, they released to new originals, “kırık cam” and “Valahi Yok”, showcasing a band hungry for new sonic voyages.

They are one of the best and most adventurous rock bands around, plain and simple. During the last years, they have gathered many new converts to their cause – not least here in Oslo. It is a delight to be able to invite them back this year.
