The quintet Cimota is made out of of Håvard Wiik (piano), Ingebrigt Håker Flaten (bass), Hans Hulbækmo (drums), Eivind Lønning (trumpet) and Espen Reinertsen (saxophones). Reading the name backwards might give a qlue to their music: Cimota builds on the legendary scandinavian jazz quintet Atomic, of which Wiik, Flaten & Hulbækmo were members, and which existed from 2001 to 2022. Lønning & Reinertsen, for their part, have made up the duo Streifenjunko for a number of years. There they have explored the possibilities of the trumpet and the saxophone in intimate interaction. When this duo is backed by the country's very best rhythm section, the limits of the classic jazz quintet are put to the test.
