The spectacular Dubioza Kolektiv are returning to Oslo World. Back in 2022, they played an ecstatic show to a sweaty, rowdy audience at a Cosmopolite packed to the brim. This autumn, Sentrum Scene will get the same treatment. But there’s no need to wait until then, because Dubioza Kolektiv has become part of the soundtrack of the summer of 2026. The song “USA” - and the refrain “I am from Bosnia, take me to America” is one of the anthems of the ongoing World Cup, and the Bosnian teams campaign in that tournament. The track appeared on their 2011 album Wild Wild East, and it puts a satirical spin on a tale as old as time: A person going abroad in search of the better life – but, when faced with life in the diaspora, he realizes that it’s not all perfect, and that there’s no place like the motherland. The home sick party anthem has propelled Dubioza Kolektiv to even greater fame in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Balkans and beyond.
Dubioza Kolektiv are a band quite unlike any other. They have built their identity on questioning norms, highlighting absurdities and refusing to fit neatly within expectations - whether in society, culture or the music industry. Their sound is a multilingual blend of Balkan influences with ska, punk, reggae, electronic music and hip-hop. At one moment irresistibly catchy, the next raw and unpredictable, it is delivered with wit, irony and a refusal to take itself too seriously.
They were formed in a war-torn society, devoid of much resembling an actual music industry. They made do without it, embracing the pirate ethos of the digital music era, giving away their music for free, while establishing themselves as one of the most popular and hard hitting live outfits in Europe. Distinctly dressed up in yellow and black, putting on their breathless stage show, they can come across as pure spectacle. But there’s a vast difference between taking yourself too seriously and actually being serious. And while Dubioza Kolektiv at times may mimic the absurdity of the world surrounding them, they are nothing if not profound. At Oslo World 2026, we welcome some of the most beloved musical rebels in the world of music back to our festival.
