The documentary LUZMILA AND THE BIRDS explores the life and work of the Bolivian artist Luzmila Carpio, who will perform at the National Jazz Stage on Saturday, 2 November.
Carpio popularized the Quechua language worldwide, and her music has taken her from her hometown of Potosí to stages all over the world. In the documentary, we meet Carpio in the here and now – she travels around in search of the voice of the land, Pachamama, and collects memories of her life intertwined with nature, her people and society.
Before the screening, there will be a short conversation with Carpio.
