A meeting between some of Northern Norway's foremost musicians in jazz and improvised music.
Some of Northern Norway's foremost musicians meet in the North Norwegian Jazz Ensemble - a long-awaited new investment in jazz and improvised music in the region. With a completely new commissioned work from the Tromsø based duo Leagus, the stage is set for a concert where the distinctiveness and diversity of jazz and related music can shine. "Flora Eallin" has become an ode to trees, seaweed, the earth and the moss. Together with the North Norwegian Jazz Ensemble, we get to take part in a musical journey that thematizes nature’s significance for humanity.
Leagus consists of Herborg Rundberg and Kristian Svalestad Olstad. They are a new music / improv band and a part of a new, interesting generation of Sami bands and artists, who represent deep traditions, but also renew their cultural heritage. The band established itself in 2016 with their debut Lea Áigi and the sequel Naimaka, both of which have garnered rave reviews.
North Norwegian Jazz Ensemble consists of:
Frode Larsen – vocals, Elina Waage Mikalsen – vocals, Herborg Rundberg – piano, Kristian S.
