Meet one of the most original bands on the contemporary music scene.
Chateau Neuf - Lillesalen 17.00.
On the festival’s opening day, a couple of hours before the opening concert featuring Marcel Khalife at Chateau Neuf—we invite you to a conversation with members of Dubioza Kolektiv, who are set to perform at Sentrum Scene on Wednesday. We will delve into the history of this distinctive band, which has carved out a unique niche both within and beyond the Balkans by defying every conceivable convention.
Dubioza Kolektiv is truly a band without equal. They have built their identity on challenging norms, highlighting the absurdity of modern life, refusing to fit neatly into expectations — whether we’re talking about society, culture, or the music industry. Their music knows no boundaries. It’s a multilingual blend of Balkan sounds and influences, ska, punk, reggae, electronic music, and hip-hop. One moment they are irresistibly catchy, the next raw and unpredictable. It’s all delivered with wit, irony, and a mischievous refusal to take themselves too seriously.
The band emerged from a war-torn society that lacked anything resembling a proper music industry. Dubioza Kolektiv managed without one, embracing the pirate ethos of the digital music era, giving their music away for free, all while establishing themselves as one of Europe’s most popular and hard-hitting live acts. Clad in yellow and black, and with a wild stage show, they are a visual spectacle.
How did they do it? And what drives them? It is a pleasure to invite you to this encounter with one of the most original bands on the contemporary music scene—just before the action kicks off!
