The Villa, Move and Oslo World invite you to a club night with the Portuguese record company Príncipe Discos! In the last ten years, Príncipe artists such as DJ Nigga Fox and Nídia have made dance floors around the world boil with their intense and pulsating rhythms. The music reflects the musical rhythms of the African diaspora living in Portugal, shaped by Lisbon's vibrant club life. Get ready for an evening filled with rhythms like kuduro, kizomba, and tarraxinha, straight from the heart of Lisbon!
DJ Nigga Fox made a groundbreaking debut with his innovative blend of electronic music and African rhythms on the EP O Meu Estilo, released on Príncipe Discos in 2013. His next release, the 2015 EP Noite e Dia, was praised by Resident Advisor and ignited dance floors worldwide. In 2018, the debut release Crânio came on legendary Warp Records. In 2019 came the first full-length, Cartas na Manga, which explores African culture in Portugal and Europe. During the pandemic in 2020, he began to develop an organic live set, which resulted in the release Live Nigginha Fox in 2021. Since then, he has traveled the world, not least to the Sonar Festival in Barcelona in 2021, where he delivered a fantastic live set.
Nídia is an internationally recognized Afro-Portuguese electronic producer and DJ from Vale da Amoreira, south of Lisbon. As part of the record label and artist collective Príncipe Discos, she has played a crucial role in bringing progressive aesthetic and ethical values to contemporary dance culture. Her first physical release, Danger, came in 2015, followed by the critically acclaimed debut album Nídia é Má, Nídia é Fudida in 2017. She has also received a Swedish Grammy for her production work on Fever Ray's album Plunge!. Her third album, 95 MINDJERES, was released in October 2023. It pays tribute to female freedom fighters in Guinea-Bissau's independence struggle against Portuguese colonialism.
Endre 3000 is also known as Endre Dalen - music journalist, graphic designer, label manager for Digital Diaspora and long-standing Mela employee. He mostly DJs African and Afro-diasporic electronic music. This evening he dives deep into the Princípe catalogue, as well as the label's roots in genres such as kuduro, tarraxinha and funana, but look out for cross-pollination opportunities with funk bruxaria, coupé décalé and dennery segment.
ANИA, one third of the DJ collective Rebelle, has made a name for her as a DJ in Oslo in recent years. With roots in both the North and Tanzania, ANИA loves to find ways to merge and experiment with different genres. Together with Rebelle, she runs the club concept "Get Busy". She is also known for her more underground dj profile where she combines beats of Afro-electronic beats and futuristic dancehall, inspired by the Afro-Caribbean diaspora.
