In collaboration with Keychange, Oslo World presents a talk between Silje Larsen Borgan (LBS), Oriana Convelbo (Volta+) and Patricia Zavala (Magnus Media), moderated by Laia Canals. For music agencies like Little Big Sister (Norway) and Volta+ (France) and Magnus Media (US), success isn’t only measured by ticket sales and streams – they want to change the nature of the game itself. Since 2015, Little Big Sister has been home to some of the biggest names in Norwegian pop, and it has been a place that nurtures both commercial and creative ambition - Karpe being the most visible, but far from the only, example. LBS have also been vocal about what needs to change in the music business - about the need for more diverse representation and renewal of attitudes.
Volta+ represents several of the hottest artists in French hip hop and diaspora pop at the moment, including Yamê and TIF, both of whom will perform at Oslo World this year. They have also created courses for young women who want to enter the music business, and have among other things taken an active hand in getting the male dominated French music business to hire more women.
After working for Universal Music Spain for six years, Patricia Zavala became part of the Magnus Talent team, working with artists such as Villano Antilliano, who will perform during Oslo World, as well as Paula Cendejaz, Trueno and Micro TDHH.
How does one work to change the Music Industry in the most efficient way? How are these ambitions connected with creative and commercial ones? What are the biggest challenges going forward? Join us for an after work discussion at Andre Til Høyre moderated by Laia Canals. She is director of Tempi - Roots Music Denmark, the national organization that promotes Danish Roots Music genres in Denmark and abroad. Known as a capacity builder with expertise in cultivating networks, music export and visionary leadership, Laia's work spans across the globe.
