Whispers in the Woods + talk with Warren Ellis
- Vega Scene
- Starts at 21:00: Samtale: Warren Ellis 21:45: Filmvisning: Sanger fra skogene
In collaboration with Arthaus and Vega Scene, Oslo World presents screenings of the film Whispers in the Woods as well as an on-stage conversation with the legendary musician Warren Ellis, who is performing at Cosmopolite with Dirty Three.
Ellis is, of course, also known as a member of Nick Cave’s band, The Bad Seeds; Cave and Ellis have also composed film scores together, including for the major Norwegian crime series released this Easter based on Jo Nesbø’s Harry Hole.
About Whispers in the Woods:
As a young boy, director Vincent Munier learned to appreciate nature from his father. Now that Vincent’s son is the same age, the three generations venture into the dense forests of France to experience birds, deer, and lynx up close. The grandfather’s absolute favorite is the capercaillie. Since his childhood, the bird has disappeared from French forests. To give his grandson the chance to experience this magnificent bird, they travel to Norway.
Whispers in the Woods is a stunningly beautiful, understated nature documentary about three generations of Frenchmen at home in the forest. In their company—and through superb sound and cinematography—we get a close-up view of the joy found in observing and listening to the natural world in its wild state. Warren Ellis, who is appearing at the festival with Dirty Three, composed the music, and a conversation with him will take place before the film. The screening is a collaboration with Arthaus and Vega Kino.
Before the screening, there will be a conversation with Warren Ellis about his work on film scores and his inspiration from nature..
