Elida Almeida’s debut album Ora doci, Ora Margos introduced a wide audience to her powerful voice, with her name resonating across Europe, Africa and North America. On her second album, Kebrada, she asserted her African identity, blending homegrown rhythms with a Latin sensibility. Emerging as both a spokesperson for Cape Verde and a voice for a new generation, she continues to refine her craft on albums like Di Lonji, Gerasonobu and this year’s release. Here, she not only bridges past and present, but also demonstrates a deeply personal approach to songwriting, mastering the art of the ballad with sincerity, tenderness and virtuosity.
Over the course of a career spanning just over a decade, she has performed in more than 50 countries, won numerous awards, and captivated audiences across four continents. This autumn, she makes her Oslo World debut with her solo project.

Nai Barghouti, Tord Gustavsen, Ruven Ruppik & Steinar Raknes - Kulturkirken Jakob - October 30
This year at Oslo World, we are proud to present a spontaneous meeting between four remarkable musicians, led by the young Palestinian singer, composer and flutist Nai Barghouti.
Born in Jerusalem, Barghouti performed her first concerts in Ramallah and Cairo at the age of 14. She has studied both classical music and jazz, and along the way explored the connections between Arabic tarab traditions and jazz improvisation.
Her virtuosity has drawn comparisons to legendary Arab singers such as Asmahan, Umm Kulthoum and Fairouz, and she has played sold-out concerts in cities around the world. Her output so far is wide-ranging, spanning ballads, folk music, electronic soundscapes and improvisation.
When she met the Norwegian musicians Tord Gustavsen and Steinar Raknes a few years ago, it quickly became clear that there was more to explore. Pianist Tord Gustavsen is one of the most acclaimed and successful Norwegian jazz musicians of the past decades. His trio has become one of the defining ECM bands, performing to sold-out concert halls across Europe and beyond. In addition to being a member of Gustavsen’s trio, bassist Steinar Raknes is a central figure in his generation. A remarkable instrumentalist, he is known from a wide range of jazz collaborations, as well as a thriving solo career as a genre-crossing artist and singer. Joining them on stage is Ruven Ruppik, a Dutch percussionist with a highly original approach to drumming, spanning classical techniques, jazz, and a wide spectrum of traditional styles.
At this year’s festival, we are proud to present this newly formed quartet, capable of both moments of great beauty and unexpected musical magic.
